" I could not ask for a better experience. It was fast, efficient, friendly, no hassle and the car was ready. I had to provide my drivers license and credit card, the guy at the counter just processed my details with no problems, he explained that there was a charge for the road tax and a deposit was held on my credit card. which was also explained on the initial contract from autoeurope so it was not a surprise. when I returned the car a guy met us and while we where unloading the car he checked the car, from pulling into the parking lot and getting on the shuttle bus took us eight minutes and ten minutes we where on our way to the airport terminal. I have traveled home to the uk from Canada for the last 23 years and this was the best car rental experience I have had. I will definitely use both autoeurope and Hertz again. Thank you very much. "

" I have had several cars from them over the years but in this case I picked the car up at night and was encouraged not to inspect it until the morning, when it was then covered with road salt. It was a one way rental and on return I was accused of scuffing the wheel. I don't know how this could have happened but had no evidence. I would have had to wash the car ion morning to do a proper inspection. There was also a tobacco smell, but they did refund the one way fee as compensation. "

" Overall I had a very pleasant experience. The car was great and exactly what I was expecting. The pickup was butter smooth at the Hertz location and the staff were helpful, cheerful and welcoming. This was especially appreciated since we were travelling with two small children and a mountain of luggage. The drop off went smoothly and was only marred by the shuttle bus driver who was unpleasant and unhelpful. He watched me from his seat in the bus while I struggled to load the 6 pieces of luggage, carry-on luggage and child car seats all while holding my 5 month old son in one hand. Despite this behaviour, I would recommend Auto-Europe and Hertz as I strongly believe this was an isolated incident and not general practice. Thank you! "

Enterprises policy costs me every time, and surely it is more expensive to process a refund. In my last rental the refund took some time to come.. Unitl Enterpsie change their policy on charges up front I willl NOT be using them again EVEN IF THE COMPETITORS ARE MORE EXPENSIVE "

" My comments aren't necessarily for Hertz solely. The process to book prior to arriving is why I use AutoEurope, which should save time, however I find that there's an element of duplication, once arrived and at the car hirer. Also, you've got to wait for someone, especially if there's been a few flights arrived within a certain time period. The hirer doesn't have much flexibility in offering a different car, at a reasonable rental price. Was quite disappointed with the quality of the car seat for my 2 year old, and Booster seat for my 6 year old. This always appears to be an afterthought, not just for Hertz, but other hirers. Invest in decent car seats, that would actually perform in the event of a accident. I don't appreciate renting sub standard equipment, for a premium price. Just not good business. Also, I was told that I had to fill up the tank, within 10 km when returning the vehicle, because apparently hirers are filling up, and returning cars where the tank isn't full. Come on!! If the needle says the tank is full, what's the problem? If his is Hertz policy I won't use them again. I'm sure Hertz isn't struggling for revenue. For me this is money making. "

In this case, "this car will save you on fuel and it is only 20 GBP a day". After a long flight all a customer wants is a car that was booked and payed for or a free upgrade if the car is not in stock. My comments in part 1 & 2 still stand as the person that checked me in was very efficient and polite and was, I am sure, following instructions. "

" On other occasions that I've booked Hertz through AutoEurope the experience has been excellent. The first booking this year was fine - friendly, efficient service at pickup and excellent drop-off. This second booking was less satisfactory: First, after taking a number it was almost half an hour before we were called. Then they said they didn't have a car in the group I had reserved. I cold have a size up or a size down. I chose a size down and was given a complimentary Satnav which I didn't need and which didn't fit the receptacle on the dash. No question of a refund. We finally got away about an hour after we got there. They said they would email a copy of the damage sheet, but didn't. No matter - there was no extra damage. As it happened the Hyundai i10 was a nice car, though not the best for the motorway and the vehicle drop-off was wonderfully swift and efficient. It just didn't seem like Hertz at the pickup. They definitely needed more staff at that time of the day.(1-3) I wasn't the only disgruntled customer. It seemed like a bad day and given the right price I would still choose Hertz for a smooth rental experience. "

There was an auto handbrake control which should have been advised when I requested that I be shown the controls of the car. " Was well satisfied with the car and free upgrade which included a free Satnav. Was tricked by them into paying extra for a tank of fuel. Was not explained prperly and did not realise they were charging me more than I had agreed to. When I returned the car it was a miserable experience. The entrance to the Hertz compound was blocked by an empty car transporter parked on a bend. Eventually managing to pass it I was immediately confronted by a barrier that came down right onto the front of the car. After that I was expecting to fill the tank at the Hertz fuel pumps but they told me I could not. Very poorly explained and confusing and unpleasant. The employees themselves were ll pleasant and hepful however. "

Booking online is straightforward and more than once I have received a reduction when a lower price comes up after I've made a reservation. Being able to pay in $C before we leave takes away some of the uncertainty. They've always been great to deal with. "

When I finally got to the counter the process was efficient and the young man (Govind) was excellent. The car was fine. One more suggestion: I've rented a lot of cars and am sometimes frustrated that there's nothing more than a very general information sheet about the vehicle. I was also disappointed that there was no computer to show gas consumption on the Vauxhall Meriva. Perhaps that could be listed in the Auto Europe specs when we book. Check-in on return was very quick. I was offered a receipt by email but almost 5 days later it still hasn't arrived. "

He was very helpful and knowledgeable. He offered his name, a phone number and his extention number should I have difficulties with Europcar in the UK just in case, but said this was really not needed as all would be fine. It was. "
" Unfortunately I collected the car just ahead of a bank holiday which meant large line ups at the multiple desks of Europcar (Keddy) where I had to "take a number" and wait in line.. I was told this was not normal. Upon collection of the car outside, I went through the basic operation with the check-out man, but there was no manual in (any) the hire car and this would have been a help during the following three weeks to check operational queries! But this is a minor point. However, a map of how to return the car would have been a real help as neither google maps nor the Europcar phone number worked! I had to phone the Hounslow Europcar number and be very emphatic to get someone to explain the route from the M25! "

" The car provided was excellent and the service very good. I took out the no deductible insurance and therefore they did not inspect the car prior to departure. There was some damage in various areas which I insisted in pointing out. On return they produced a detailed list of prior damage which I think that I should have been told on pick up . They also said there was an additional scratch which I do not think was done during my rental period.. Even with no deductible I think that the customer should be informed of prior damage and the car inspected for the clients peace of mind. "

My only issue is the pressure to pay for upgrading the vehicle when through no fault of mine my vehicle was given to someone with the same name as me. I was offered a 'deal' on a vehicle which would have cost more than my original vehicle per day, the deal that is, an extra 50 pounds per day!! No thanks, please give me what I paid for or upgrade me to the nearest vehicle I paid for as this was not my fault. I was even offered a 'deal' on an upgraded version of the vehicle I paid for but after explaining my budget and the exchange rate would not allow that, the manager gave it to me at the same rate. But they were nice people! "

" I get a little tired of the constant 'upsell' pressure when I pick up a car. If I needed a bigger car, then I would book it with you. If I needed more insurance, then I would buy it at the time of booking. I am used to it now and don't let it bother me but it would be nice if just once I showed up and they simply gave me the car I had ordered. Having said that, the car that I had was a Peugeot 208 diesel and it was very, very good. It was fine around town and good on the motorway and the fuel economy was outstanding. It is one of their smaller cars but quite satisfactory for two adults with two suitcases plus other stuff. Once you have cleared the counter, the pick up is efficient and the return procedures are excellent. "

A few quibbles; No provision of a guide to the vehicles instruments and controls. The National map of LHR and access routes shows a 'fuel station" but does not indicate that access is only from a exterior road. Consequently I was not able to refuel immediately before returning the vehicle and had to return the car with the tank only 3/4 full. On returning the vehicle I was told that I would be charged 3 UK pounds per liter; an exorbitant price not quoted anywhere prior to the return. "

" In the past I have had only good experiences with Hertz, but this time I was disappointed with their commitment to customer service. 1. I specifically requested a diesel vehicle and was given a gas powered one, adding to the overall cost of travel. 2. I was travelling in Europe during winter and required to take out additional insurance. As it happens I ended up in a winter storm and poor driving conditions. Here winter tires would have been safe and appropriate option, rather than the standard formulaic car upgrade (4-wheel drive), again adding considerably to the overall cost of driving. Offering winter tires should be standard for all car rental companies, putting customer safety before company profits. "

" at london city airport there was no one at the return area. the only hertz staff were at the rental desk inside the terminal. they were friendly, but no one was able, at that time, to check the vehicle's gas level, `condition`, etc, which means that I don't know if they will "find" something for which to charge me after the fact. There was also no signage to let me know where to go from the car return area in order to check the car back in. I sort of had to find my own way which was frustrating, time consuming, and could have been easily solved. "

In UK it seems as if you want to buy the car. Also all the conditions that they require to add a second driver are rediculous. On this occasion they required a copy of the second drivers Rental home agreement or a utility bill addressed to them, in addition to Drivers License. Crazy. We gave up and did not add second driver. " The 'Specials' are misleading - the only way to find out pricing is to submit a test booking. Pricing differences between cars are sometimes due to whether local fees are included or excluded, so it is hard to compare. There is no reward for long-term loyalty (I have been using Autoeurope exclusively for 10 years, but each booking is registered as a new customer). That said, I AM satisfied with what you do, your bookings are accurate, and your people deal with questions and changes very efficiently. I frequently recommend Autoeurope to many friends and acquaintances. "

The representative was confused about third party liability and wasted a lot of time on this issue when I was already covered with auto europe. She was not customer friendly as she was trying to rush me to serve other customers. She did not inform me that the car had a special way to start it. I had to go back to ask for someone to show how to start the car and she made me wait for 45 minutes for someone to come and show how to start the car. So by the time I left it was noon and I should have been gone by 10h20 at the latest. Finally, she did not explain that this was a blue motion car and that the engine would stop when I would be at a stop. Customer service was awful. "
