" We've always been satisfied with Auto Europe. We wondered if they will ensure that the promised deduction is fulfilled. "

" The counter staff in Venice were unhelpful when we had questions and problems with the GPS. Plus the GPS maps were over a year out of date and it malfunctioned midway through our trip Leaving with us with some difficult navigation problems. However the staff at Leonardo Da Vinci Airport in Rome were excellent for our drop-off. We had an oil problem; the change oil light came on which we had checked out a ta service station. The staff in Rome were most helpful over this as well as with our faulty GPS, and offered to refund the full cost of the GPS rental. Hopefully this will be deducted from our bill. "

" Europcar is right up there with the best of car renters. I had requested a Nissan SUV but was told that the one in the lot might break down quickly & was offered an "upgrade" to a Fiat Tipo SW. It performed pretty well over the 13 day rental but I found the gear box to be a bit squishy - goodness knows how many drivers had been at the wheel in its 28,000 km! I like that both Europcar and Hertz offer no deductible insurance at reasonable rates - at least when renting through AutoEurope! "

A warning light came on while we were in another country, and we were concerned it was not safe to drive the car. It took an hour on the phone to achieve no resolution. The resolution suggested was to leave the car in Croatia, and take the bus to Italy to pick up a different car! Very poor service. "

" The car was not available at the pickup location (Piazzale Roma, Venice) and after a long wait, we were shuttled to another location to pickup a car that was dirty on the exterior. Unlike with previous car rentals, we had no maps provided with this one. There was no fluid in the windshield washer reservoir. The return of the car at a different city (Rome) was smooth and efficient. There were no gas stations in the final approach to the Rome airport, so I was not able to top up the fuel. As a result, the rental company charged me an outlandish service fee over and above the fuel cost (it was already 3/4 full). "
