" They appeared understaff at opening with both returns and sign outs happening by same people at the same time. We finally got the car, given the keys, and left to figure out both the car and how to get out of Lisbon (comment was that it was to difficult to explain - it wasn't). It was a nice car but we had no instructions on any of the audio etc. The return was not bad but parking issues due to construction and heavy rain led to less than a satisfactory experience. This was the 1st unsatisfactory experience with Avis that I remember. "

We needed some help in Lagos with our car and received immediate assistance from a very helpful Avis representative there. " I would not hesitate to book with Auto Europe again or to recommend them to family and friends. The staff was friendly, and helpful. The recommendation to book the larger van was justified as the van we had first considered would not have been large enough for 6 passengers and all of our luggage. It saved us a lot of headaches. I would definitely recommend getting the transponder activated especially if you are travelling in Portugal as the toll system is not easy to navigate and the transponder takes the worry out of being caught with unpaid tolls. Thanks for a great experience. "

" It would be nice to have the list of prior damage to the car up front. I noticed on the second day of our rental that the car was missing a small central plastic hub cap from a wheel. It wasn't noted on the walk around picture. Only when I returned the car did I see it on the list of prior damage. I wish basic rental cars had simple steel wheels so there's less chance of pieces falling off or being stolen. "

" We do enjoy Avis/Budget and have used them for many years around the world. The wait time to pick up the car was terrible with only one agent available and a line-up out into the street. Must say he was very pleasant to deal with. He actually had to do all the paperwork and go get the cars and attend to show each customer the use of the vehicle. I think Avis/Budget in that location (Lisbon rail station) should be ashamed of themselves. We were in no rush and we did not mind the wait, however, the other customers were very upset. Will still use Avis. "

" We loved the car we rented from Auto Europe, the man that showed us the features of the car was friendly, cheerful and very helpful. We loved the GPS system, so glad it was included with the car! Also having the transponder for going over the toll roads made for easy driving as well. The only downside to this car rental experience was the personality of the woman we received the paperwork from upon arriving, through our credit card we have the Collision Damage Waiver and all the supporting paperwork, i realize staff are encouraged to sell the insurance, but her conversation with us was certainly less than friendly when we opted not to choose the extra insurance at the desk . "
