To rent a vehicle in the Czech Republic through Auto Europe you are required to be at least 19 to 21 years old depending on the rental supplier and the category of vehicle you intend to rent. If you happen to be between the ages of 19-24 years old some suppliers may require you to pay an additional young driver surcharge of about $20 CAD per day. You are also required to have held your driver's license for a minimum of 1 year. An international driver's permit is highly recommended in the Czech Republic, if you fail to present one and you are involved in an accident your insurance claim may be declined as a result. If you are traveling with children under the age of 12 they are required to sit in the back seat of the vehicle and in a child seat or booster that is appropriate to their size. Talking on a mobile phone while driving is illegal in the Czech Republic and could result in a high fine if you are caught.
In the Czech Republic the following speed limits apply: city 50 km/h, open roads 90 km/h and highways 130 km/h. If your vehicle is equipped with snow chains you are required to travel at 50 km/h.

In the Czech Republic all vehicles are required to have a toll sticker in order to travel on the highways. When renting a vehicle through Auto Europe it will come with the proper sticker to travel on the highways in the Czech Republic.
Most cities throughout the Czech Republic require vehicles to park on the right side of the street in the direction of flowing traffic. Prague practices colored zone parking where areas marked with a certain color are subject to a specified time limit.

If beginning your rental in the Czech Republic the insurance guidelines of the Czech Republic will be in effect for the entire duration of the rental even in the event it is returned to a different country. Specific car rental insurance information can be found in the terms and conditions area of your rental voucher.
There are two forms of insurance that are mandatory for rentals commencing in the Czech Republic they are third party liability and fire insurance. All rentals rates in the Czech Republic will include these insurances. Fire insurance provides unlimited coverage of the rental vehicle in the event that is it damaged due to a fire. Third party liability provides $1,500,900 CAD up to an unlimited amount of coverage to people and property that are outside of the rental vehicle.
In the Czech Republic there are a few forms of optional insurance coverage, which includes collision damage waiver (CDW), theft protection, personal accident insurance and super CDW. CDW and theft are optional and will be included (at an advance purchase discount) if the inclusive rate it selected. CDW and theft can be purchased locally for a cost ranging from $15-$33 CAD per day for theft and $30-$56 CAD per day for CDW. CDW and theft in most cases will have a deductible that you are still responsible for in the event of an accident or theft. The amount of the deductibles for CDW and theft can range from $585 CAD up to $1500 CAD and is dependent on the vehicle category and rental supplier. Many suppliers offer a supplementary insurance which is called super CDW which will help reduce the amount of the deductible that you are responsible for. The cost for super CDW is approximately $25 CAD per day and is available through select suppliers only. Personal accident insurance is offered locally and will provide death and disability coverage to the driver and passengers of the rental vehicle. The cost of personal accident insurance is between $16-$17 CAD per day.
With Auto Europe most vehicles rented in the Czech Republic have the ability to travel throughout Western Europe without any restrictions. Some specific vehicle categories including luxury vehicles, vans and automatics may have travel restrictions due to insurance regulations. Here at Auto Europe we have worked hard to build strong relationships with all of our suppliers that has allowed for the creation of a special rental program, which will allow certain vehicles to travel into Eastern Europe. Additional surcharges may apply to rentals being taken into Eastern Europe. Some suppliers may also restrict some vehicles from traveling into Italy, if you have plans to drive into Italy, please advise Auto Europe at time of booking to make sure your rental is permitted to travel there. At this time we would like to ask for you to take a moment and make sure the vehicle you intend to rent will be suitable for your travel needs.
Rentals that originate in the Czech Republic cannot travel through the following countries without prior notice to and approval of Auto Europe and the suppliers that we work with: Albania, Bosnia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Turkey and the Ukraine.

International one-ways are offered in and will always incur an additional surcharge. Domestic one-way rentals are also available free of charge with most of our rental suppliers. Minimum rental lengths may apply and not all vehicles are permitted.
