" We had a bad experience and am inserting the email I sent to them which is self explanatory. I hope that you will be able to assist us. This is waht I sent: Dear Sirs I refer to the Avis contract number 12691716 2, reservation confirmation number 17349922CA2 and would like to place on record my utter disgust and disappointment at the deceptive practice used by your company and your employee, Christiane Duarte, in implementing this contract when picking up the car in Porto. The initial booking included fully comprehensive insurance and when I picked up the car I informed the Avis agent that we wanted the following optional extras: additional driver, GPS and e-Toll transmitter. This was discussed with the agent and she confirmed that those were the ONLY additional items to be paid for. I took her at her word and, in good faith, signed the contract. I would like to add that there was a long line at the rental office and only one agent on duty. I thus wanted to proceed as quickly as possible in order to inconvenience the other customers as little as possible. However, when we got to Lisbon to drop off the car, I was informed that several other optional items were to be paid for. These were: windshield protection, roadside assistance and personal assistance. I was totally dismayed and shocked at this because I had discussed with your Porto agent that I wanted only the three original optional items, and, at the time she assured me that those WERE the ONLY additional items. She never discussed with me the three new additional items, and she checked them off the contract without my knowledge and consent and without me signing my initials to confirm each of these. Had I been informed of these additional optional extras, I would have declined to take them. Further, as can be seen from the attached Auto Europe voucher, roadside assistance was included in the original rental price and should not have been billed as an additional item. Although I signed the contract in good faith, I am extremely upset by your agent deceptively adding the additional items without my knowledge and consent. I thus expect that these charges to be reversed and credited back to my credit card. Should this not happen , I will take this up with your industry association, ACRISS. I would also like to add the following comments: When I dropped off the car, I found your agent in Lisbon to be rude, condescending and totally unprofessional. When I asked her to explain the additional items, she was impatient and rolled her eyes back in a most insulting manner. When I requested a GPS, I expected to get a "GPS", namely a Garmin, Magellan or similar. However, when I got into the car, I saw that the GPS was a cell phone with Waze and Google Maps. By this time it was too late to hand back the GPS, but, had I known what I was getting, I would never have requested the GPS as I would have used my own cell phone which has Waze and Google maps. " We were upgraded to a Mercedes C class. On the 2nd day - a message appeared on the screen that the car was due for service. Then later on another screen - a message "refill AdBlue - see owners manual". We had no idea what AdBlue was and there was no owners manual in the car. We went to a gas station - but that attendent did not speak english. The next gas station was out of AdBlue and finally at the 3rd gas station we finally got AdBlue filled into the car. It was a all a bit stressful ...BUT I am pleased that when we dropped off the car in Faro - the Avis agent there apologized for our trouble and refunded us the cost of AdBlue and a bit more for our inconvenience. "
