    Insurance Information

Car Rental Insurance in SloveniaGeneral Information
One of the most important pieces of information to learn about when renting a vehicle in an unfamiliar country is your car rental insurance options and requirements. Once you receive your rental voucher please take a moment to read over the insurance details that are specific to your rental they will be printed in the terms and conditions area located at the bottom of the voucher. It is important to remember that the insurance guidelines of the country you pick up your rental in will be in effect for the entire duration of your rental. Below you will learn about what forms of insurance are required on your rental and what forms are optional and those that are available to you locally by the rental suppliers in Slovenia.

    Required Coverage
In Slovenia fire and third party liability insurance coverage is required on all rentals. Most suppliers provide from $300,000 CAD up to an unlimited amount of third party liability coverage to people and property outside of the rental vehicle. Fire insurance provides an unlimited amount of insurance coverage to the rental vehicle in the event it is damaged due to a fire. Please be aware that fire insurance is included in most basic rental rates in Slovenia unless otherwise indicated.

    Optional Coverage
In Slovenia there are a few optional insurances that are offered including theft protection, collision damage waiver (CDW), super CDW and personal accident insurance (PAI). Personal accident insurance is an optional insurance that is available locally to provide death and disability coverage to the driver and passengers of the rental vehicle and it costs about $3-$15 CAD per day. Collision damage waiver and theft are included in all inclusive rental rates in Slovenia at an advanced purchase discount. If CDW is purchased locally it can cost anywhere from $7 CAD per day up to $40 CAD per day depending on the car category and the rental supplier. Theft is also available locally and costs between $7 and $50 CAD per day. When CDW and theft protection are purchased the supplier will have a deductible that you are responsible for in the event anything happens to the vehicle, which can range anywhere from $ 300 CAD up to $900 CAD. Many of the suppliers in Slovenia offer a supplementary insurance called Super CDW that is available locally for about $11-$35 CAD per day, which will help reduce the amount of the deductible you are responsible for. In the event you decided to decline the CDW and theft with Auto Europe and the supplier locally to take advantage of coverage provided by your credit card please contact the card issuer before you travel to make sure they provide coverage to rentals commencing in Slovenia. Please be aware that optional insurances are available with select car suppliers only and prices and participation are subject to change without notice.
