The best way to see the majestic mountains of France, Italy and Switzerland is safely inside a warm gondola as it lazily climbs high above the clouds. What better way to get to these far off destinations then with a
car rental in Europe. Here are just a few of the best gondola rides Europe has to offer.
Aiguille du Midi, France
France is home to Europe’s highest cable car. A 20 minute ride from the center of Chamonix takes you to the gateway of the high Alps, an elevation of 3,842 meters. Once you arrive at the top, you are greeted with a 360 degree view of the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. Also, at the top you can take an additional gondola lift over the Glacier du Geant to the Pointe Helbronner in Italy
Grindelwald, Switzerland

This cable car ride in the sleepy village of Grindelwald is fantastic any time of the year. It’s about a 30 minute ride over the treetops with awesome views the whole way. The cable cars seat 6 people and if you’re lucky enough to be visiting in the quieter seasons, you just might have a whole car to yourself. At the top of Mannlichen you are surrounded by snowy peaks and lush green valleys. A tasty lunch or dinner in the restaurant located at the top will add to your inevitable delight.
Barcelona, Spain

Not all cable cars are located in cold climates. Barcelona uses a cable car to connect the Barceloneta Beach and the Montjuic district of town. The cable car was first opened in 1931, as part of the Barcelona World Exhibition. The top of the mountain is where the Castle of Montjuic is located, along with many great views of Barcelona. It is quite a sight to behold.
