" Overall I had a very pleasant experience. The car was great and exactly what I was expecting. The pickup was butter smooth at the Hertz location and the staff were helpful, cheerful and welcoming. This was especially appreciated since we were travelling with two small children and a mountain of luggage. The drop off went smoothly and was only marred by the shuttle bus driver who was unpleasant and unhelpful. He watched me from his seat in the bus while I struggled to load the 6 pieces of luggage, carry-on luggage and child car seats all while holding my 5 month old son in one hand. Despite this behaviour, I would recommend Auto-Europe and Hertz as I strongly believe this was an isolated incident and not general practice. Thank you! "

" My comments aren't necessarily for Hertz solely. The process to book prior to arriving is why I use AutoEurope, which should save time, however I find that there's an element of duplication, once arrived and at the car hirer. Also, you've got to wait for someone, especially if there's been a few flights arrived within a certain time period. The hirer doesn't have much flexibility in offering a different car, at a reasonable rental price. Was quite disappointed with the quality of the car seat for my 2 year old, and Booster seat for my 6 year old. This always appears to be an afterthought, not just for Hertz, but other hirers. Invest in decent car seats, that would actually perform in the event of a accident. I don't appreciate renting sub standard equipment, for a premium price. Just not good business. Also, I was told that I had to fill up the tank, within 10 km when returning the vehicle, because apparently hirers are filling up, and returning cars where the tank isn't full. Come on!! If the needle says the tank is full, what's the problem? If his is Hertz policy I won't use them again. I'm sure Hertz isn't struggling for revenue. For me this is money making. "

" I've used Auto Europe for years and have always been very pleased with the service and have recommended it to several friends. The online booking works well and there's always a phone number for questions/problems. Being able to pay ahead in C$ takes away most of the uncertainty. "
" On other occasions that I've booked Hertz through AutoEurope the experience has been excellent. The first booking this year was fine - friendly, efficient service at pickup and excellent drop-off. This second booking was less satisfactory: First, after taking a number it was almost half an hour before we were called. Then they said they didn't have a car in the group I had reserved. I cold have a size up or a size down. I chose a size down and was given a complimentary Satnav which I didn't need and which didn't fit the receptacle on the dash. No question of a refund. We finally got away about an hour after we got there. They said they would email a copy of the damage sheet, but didn't. No matter - there was no extra damage. As it happened the Hyundai i10 was a nice car, though not the best for the motorway and the vehicle drop-off was wonderfully swift and efficient. It just didn't seem like Hertz at the pickup. They definitely needed more staff at that time of the day.(1-3) I wasn't the only disgruntled customer. It seemed like a bad day and given the right price I would still choose Hertz for a smooth rental experience. "

" the car was fine except they did not explain the use of the electronic handbrake fully and that caused problems which nearly caused the car to roll into others when parked on a hill. There was an auto handbrake control which should have been advised when I requested that I be shown the controls of the car. The advisor was a trainee and it took an hour for me to get the car as he was so slow. "

Eventually managing to pass it I was immediately confronted by a barrier that came down right onto the front of the car. After that I was expecting to fill the tank at the Hertz fuel pumps but they told me I could not. Very poorly explained and confusing and unpleasant. Booking online is straightforward and more than once I have received a reduction when a lower price comes up after I've made a reservation. Being able to pay in $C before we leave takes away some of the uncertainty. They've always been great to deal with. "

" In the past I have had only good experiences with Hertz, but this time I was disappointed with their commitment to customer service. 1. I specifically requested a diesel vehicle and was given a gas powered one, adding to the overall cost of travel. 2. I was travelling in Europe during winter and required to take out additional insurance. As it happens I ended up in a winter storm and poor driving conditions. Here winter tires would have been safe and appropriate option, rather than the standard formulaic car upgrade (4-wheel drive), again adding considerably to the overall cost of driving. Offering winter tires should be standard for all car rental companies, putting customer safety before company profits. "

" Good cars and pleasant office assistants. The cars all seem to be well equiped and late models. Particularly liked the Hyundai IZ3.5 we had this time and will look for this model again on future rentals. Dis not like the Peugeot we had during a rental we had about ten days bofore this one. Would like to have a manual available for the cars as it is often difficult to know what all the features on the units are for. "

" When a car is booked it would be helpful if the pickup location was advised right upfron as my initial choice would have necessitated a courtesy car to pick me up. When I discovered this I immediately cancelled the contract without any problem so kudos to you. "

" at london city airport there was no one at the return area. the only hertz staff were at the rental desk inside the terminal. they were friendly, but no one was able, at that time, to check the vehicle's gas level, `condition`, etc, which means that I don't know if they will "find" something for which to charge me after the fact. There was also no signage to let me know where to go from the car return area in order to check the car back in. I sort of had to find my own way which was frustrating, time consuming, and could have been easily solved. "

" It AWLWAYS takes too long to get the paperwork done. This time it was 25 minutes. I have had instances of 45 minutes to 60 minutes. In North America Check in usually takes 5-10 mins max. In UK it seems as if you want to buy the car. Also all the conditions that they require to add a second driver are rediculous. On this occasion they required a copy of the second drivers Rental home agreement or a utility bill addressed to them, in addition to Drivers License. Crazy. We gave up and did not add second driver. "

" The 'Specials' are misleading - the only way to find out pricing is to submit a test booking. Pricing differences between cars are sometimes due to whether local fees are included or excluded, so it is hard to compare. There is no reward for long-term loyalty (I have been using Autoeurope exclusively for 10 years, but each booking is registered as a new customer). That said, I AM satisfied with what you do, your bookings are accurate, and your people deal with questions and changes very efficiently. I frequently recommend Autoeurope to many friends and acquaintances. "
" We specifically wanted a diesel, but that was apparently a different class (unlike other rental companies at Heathrow). However, Hertz eventually waived the upgrade charge and gave us a very good diesel vehicle for the same price. The process was slow - it took us one hour to get out of their facility. But they were friendly and accommodating. "

The representative was confused about third party liability and wasted a lot of time on this issue when I was already covered with auto europe. She was not customer friendly as she was trying to rush me to serve other customers. She did not inform me that the car had a special way to start it. I had to go back to ask for someone to show how to start the car and she made me wait for 45 minutes for someone to come and show how to start the car. So by the time I left it was noon and I should have been gone by 10h20 at the latest. Finally, she did not explain that this was a blue motion car and that the engine would stop when I would be at a stop. Customer service was awful. "
