Below we have gone into detail what insurance is required to be on your vehicle rental and what other options are available to your through Auto Europe and the local suppliers in Ireland.
In Ireland it is required for all vehicle rentals to have third party liability insurance and fire insurance coverage. Third party liability also generally provides an unlimited amount of coverage to people and property outside of the rental vehicle that may be damage or injured because of the rental vehicle. Fire insurance with most suppliers will cover an unlimited amount in the event the vehicle is damage because of a fire. All of Auto Europeís basic rental rates in Ireland are inclusive of these two forms of insurance.
In Ireland collision damage waiver (CDW) and theft protection are option on car rentals. If you decline the CDW and theft with Auto Europe and supplier locally in order to take advantage of coverage provided by your credit card please call your credit card company to learn the details of your coverage and to make sure they will cover a car rental that takes place in Ireland, as many credit card companies do not. CDW is available locally for approximately $25 to $35 CAD per day depending on what category you are renting. Theft is also offered locally and can cost about $10 to $15 CAD per day and can usually only be purchased in conjunction with CDW. CDW and theft will almost always have a deductible that you are responsible for in the event anything happens to the rental vehicle, in Ireland the amount of the deductible can range from $1,200 up to $3,500 CAD. Super CDW is an optional insurance that is usually offered locally at the rental counter to help reduce the amount of the deductible and it can cost $16 to $69 CAD per day depending on the car category.
